10 Self Care Ideas

Taking care of ourselves is an important thing we can do. Some people may see self care as unnecessary but in my opinion it’s important to take some time for ourselves to recharge and relax. If we don’t take the time to occasionally do something for ourselves it can make us feel burnt out and make it harder to keep going. Here are 10 different ideas to get you started with self care.

1.)Sleeping In or Taking a Nap

Whenever you have free time and a bit of extra time sleeping in can be one of the easiest and most relaxing things you can do for self care. And if you feel like when things are really hard and you cant seem to get enough sleep and have extra time, sometimes taking a nap can help you too. 

2.)Spend Some Time in Nature

A lot of us spend our time inside and glued to screens whether that be your phone, computer or tv we never give ourselves a break from this. Being outside is good for you and gives you some fresh air. It is a great way to unwind and relax and I highly recommend it. 

3.)Read a Book

Reading a book is a simple thing we can do for ourselves when we have time to unwind. It can not only be fun but relaxing. It’s a great way to escape our busy lives even just for a little while. 


4.)Listen to Some Music

Listening to music is a great way to unwind and relax whether that be rocking our just chilling out, it can help us feel more relaxed and in my opinion more rejuvenated. It’s also something that doesn’t require much effort and can also be something used during work breaks.

5.)Shut off your phone 

Getting away from social media, the news, and email alerts and stresses from our phones once in a while is so good for us. Being glued to a screen all day isnt the best for us but not only that but getting away from some of the notifications that do cause you anxiety is also just superb way to take care of yourself and your mental health.

6.)Meditation 

Meditation is one of the most underappreciated things you can do to relax. By giving yourself time and space to calm your mind down and unwind it is one of the best way to destress whether that be after a long day of work or even before your day starts. It simply allows you to calm your mind and process your thoughts.

7.)Spend Time With Friends

Sometimes our lives get so hectic that we forget to spend time with our friends. Whether it be just catching up with them or doing specific things with them you can find something that you all enjoy doing and make a day of it. This make take a little more difficult due to schedules but is worth it because socialization is healthy for us because that the end of the day humans are social creatures.

8.)Spa Day

The Classic recommendation . When it comes to self care this is the most commonly recommended thing to do but there is a good reason but can be expensive. If you do a spa day you can get creative in doing it at home that way it is still possible for you if you cant afford to go to the actual spa. If you can go to the actual spa by all means I think that’s the best way to unwind and a great way to treat your body to some physical relaxation.

9.)Yoga

Yoga is another thing that can help you unwind and relax not only is it good to stretch but is also a good way to unwind and relax and help your muscles not get so tight. 

10.)Make or Order Your Favorite Meal

Its great to nurture your mind and body, but sometimes it is also good to find something you love to eat and treat yourself to it whether it is or isn’t healthy. Doing this in moderation is something simple and easy that tastes good and can just help you feel happier in general whether that was something you use to eat all the time when you were younger or something new you have only had once or have always thought you might want to try.
